Xinji city lies in the 65km east of Shijiazhuang city, 250km far from Beijing. Railways, national roads and expressways stretch over the whole area and lead to all parts of the country.
　　Xinji leather industy has a long history, beginning from Ming, growing prosperity in Qing Dynasty, and having the laudatory title of “Xinji leather and fur is the finest under heaven”. Xinji is the biggest leather distributing center and commercial strategic place in Chinese history. Since the reform and opening-up, Xinji leather industry developed rapidly and has been the biggest characteristic pillar industry of the whole city.
　　China Xinji leather city board of management was founded in 1995, and is the section unit directly subordinate to the municipal government to manage. It implements omni-directional closed management to the plan, investment-drawing, constrution of the whole leather city and the industry and commerce, tax administration, commodity prices, measure, property, sanitation, and public security.
　　"China Xinji leather city"is the provincial key item approved by the Ministry of Internal Trade, under the jurisdiction of ministerial industry and trade district, is the leader of Xinji leather industry. The leather city was founded in 1993. Up to now, it has been invested 1400 million yuan, covering a building area of 1, 500,000㎡ and a land of over 1500mu, is the biggest trade center of leather clothing producing presently. The city has complete equipment and rational overall market arrangement. The companies produce in the city concentrately. There are 828 companies which integrate production and sale of leather clothes, and more than 1800 leasing stands, having the production of 5,300,000 sheepskin clothing, cashmere clothing, fur clothing and Nick clothing, and nearly 15 million cases and bags, gloves, ties and various leather things. Among them, sheepskin clothing stands for the domestic advanced level. This city is the biggest production and sale base of sheepskin clothing. In the city, 36 companies have the genuine leather sign approved by China leather industry association, 17 companies have passed the ISO9000 International Quality System Certification. “Ximan”, “Sulan” leather garments successively gain the laurel of “China king of ten major genuine leather clothing”. In 2003, the brands of “Ximan”, “Dongming”, “Jinghua”, “Hengli”were assessed as the famous brands of Hebei province, “Wufa”, “Sulan”, “Ximan”, “Dazhong”, “Bailite” applied for the title of China's famous brand. The big-scale company developed rapidly, realized 5 billion yuan turnover of market and 370 million dollars foreign exchange earning. There are 9 companies whose annual output are over 200 million yuan, 22 companies whose annual output over 100 million yuan, nearly 42 companies whose annual output over 50 million yuan, and 109 companies who have gained the self-operation export and import right.
　　In order to make the leather industry bigger and stronger and forge “China Leather Capital”, relying on the leather city, municipal party committee and municipal government also planned the "Xinji Clothing-producing Industrial district"，covering an area of 2004mu in 2003. Up to now, there are 18 companies who have entered the district, 5 companies who are in course of preparing. After the accomplishment of these projects, we can realize sales income of 3500 million yuan, promote greatly the scale enlargement of leather city and leather industry, and promote construction pace of “China Leather Capital”.
